Louise Gray, the widow of a victim of the 7/7 bombings in 2005, has been jailed for the theft of £43,000 from her son’s award after she spent the £250,000 she was awarded by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA).

The money was awarded by the CICA following the death of Richard Gray in the terrorist attacks.

Adam Gray was just 11 when he lost his father and, having received an award of £50,000 he asked his mother to keep it safe for him however having spent her award on cars, clothe and luxury holidays she looked to her son’s nest-egg to maintain her lifestyle.

She was jailed for two years and eight months.
