Dog Breeds

There is often confusion as to the breed of dog that made the attack, many dogs cross-breed resulting in hybrid versions of the various forms of dogs.

You don’t have to be able to identify the species as ‘The Dangerous Dogs (Amendment) Act 1997’ made it an offence to be an owner of a dog of any type or breed which is dangerously out of control in a public place or a non-public place in which it is not permitted to be.

This means that you can look to make a claim even if the dog that attacked you isn’t actually classified as a ‘dangerous dog’ within the meaning of ‘The Dangerous Dogs Act’
